"Gurur-adir-anadish-cha Guruh-param-daivatam.
Guroh-parataram nasti tasmai Shri Gurave Namah."

Salutations are to that glorious Guru who is the very beginning of the Universe, yet who is eternal without a beginning, who is the supreme Divine and to whom there is none superior.
