🌺 Nirai Vaazhkkai (நிறை வாழ்க்கை): A Life of Fullness

Nature, Purpose, Relationships, and the Tamil Path to Living Fully

"Everyone wishes to live a fulfilling life. But what is fulfilment? Where does it come from? And how do we know when we have reached it?"

These questions sit at the heart of one of Aasaan M. Senthamizhan's insightful teachings on Nirai Vaazhkkai (நிறை வாழ்க்கை). Rather than approaching fulfilment through wealth, status, success, or comfort, Aasaan explores it through the deeper lenses of nature, action, relationships, purpose, and spiritual participation. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

For readers who followed our earlier exploration of Pannisai, this discourse also serves as a beautiful continuation of an important idea: Nirai (நிறை).

🌱 Revisiting Nirai

In our earlier article on Pannisai, we encountered the Tamil concept of Nirai.

Nirai is often translated as:

  • Fulfilment
  • Completion
  • Fullness
  • Wholeness

Yet no single English word fully captures its meaning.

Aasaan's teaching points toward something deeper:

Nirai is matured fullness that continues to participate in growth rather than remaining complete within itself.

A mature tree gives fruit.

A wise teacher teaches.

A realized person guides.

True maturity does not isolate itself.

It participates.

It nourishes.

It helps growth continue.

When we speak of Nirai Vaazhkkai, we are therefore not talking about a perfect life free from challenges.

We are talking about:

A life lived in harmony with one's nature, purpose, relationships, and responsibilities.

🌿 What Does "Nirai" Actually Mean?

Aasaan explains that the word Nirai carries two important meanings. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

📏 1. Nirai as Measure

Every thing possesses a natural measure.

When that measure is reached, it becomes complete.

For example:

🥛 Milk can accept a certain amount of water without losing its nature.

Add too much, and it is no longer milk.

Its natural limit has been crossed. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

This is completion by measure.

💚 2. Nirai as Nature

The second meaning is more subtle.

Sometimes we participate in an activity and experience a deep sense of contentment.

Not excitement.

Not pleasure.

Something deeper.

A feeling that:

"This feels complete."

This kind of fullness cannot be measured.

It is experienced. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

This is fullness by nature.

🌎 What Makes Life Full?

Applying the same principle to life, Aasaan explains that fullness operates in two dimensions. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

🩺 1. The Measure of Life

This includes:

  • Physical health
  • Mental well-being
  • Longevity
  • Vitality

A healthy body and mind allow life to unfold fully. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

This is the measurable aspect of a life of fullness.

🌼 2. The Nature of Life

The deeper aspect of fullness lies not in how long we live, but in how we live.

According to Aasaan, two fundamental elements shape the quality of life:

⚙️ Seyalpaadu (செயல்பாடு) – Meaningful Action

🤝 Uravaaduthal (உறவாடுதல்) – Meaningful Relationships

Everything else grows from these two.

⚙️ Seyalpaadu: Living Through Your Nature

Every person possesses:

  • Natural abilities
  • Natural inclinations
  • Natural strengths
  • Unique capacities

Aasaan teaches that fullness emerges when we engage in actions that arise naturally from our own nature. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

This does not mean doing only what feels comfortable.

It means expressing the gifts and abilities that are uniquely ours.

When our actions arise from our nature:

🌱 Effort becomes meaningful.

🌱 Growth becomes natural.

🌱 Fullness begins to emerge.

🤝 Uravaaduthal: The Power of Relationships

Human beings do not grow in isolation.

We grow through relationships.

However, Aasaan challenges a very common misunderstanding.

Many people assume compatibility means:

❌ Same opinions

❌ Same personality

❌ Same interests

❌ Agreeing on everything

But Aasaan offers a very different perspective. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

🎼 What Is True Compatibility?

According to Aasaan:

Compatibility = Shared Purpose + Different Abilities [sentamil3....dpress.com]

Consider a musical performance.

🎤 One person sings.

🥁 Another maintains rhythm.

🎻 Another plays an instrument.

Their talents are different.

Their roles are different.

But their purpose is one: music. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

This is true compatibility.

Not sameness.

Harmony.

Readers of our earlier Pannisai article may recognize something familiar here.

This is another expression of Isai (இசை).

🎵 Isai Beyond Music

In the Pannisai discourse, we explored Isai as something deeper than music.

There, Isai was described as:

The harmony created when fullness and growth move together as one living process.

What Aasaan describes here through meaningful relationships is another manifestation of that same principle.

A life of fullness is not life lived alone.

A life of fullness is:

  • Individual nature
  • Meaningful action
  • Shared purpose
  • Mutual growth

moving together in harmony.

That is Isai expressed as life.

💪 The Test of a Real Relationship

Aasaan provides a practical way to evaluate relationships.

A genuine relationship should do two things:

🌿 When You Fall

It should help lift you.

🌿 When You Lose Direction

It should help correct you. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

Without these two qualities, a relationship may be pleasant, but it is not truly transformative.

True relationships support growth.

🔄 Life Is Built on Two Things

Human life, according to Aasaan, revolves around two inseparable realities:

  1. Seyalpaadu (Action)
  2. Uravaaduthal (Relationship)

These are not separate.

Action gives rise to relationships.

Relationships strengthen action. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

Much of life consists of maintaining a healthy balance between the two.

🌺 What Does a Life of Fullness Look Like?

Aasaan's answer is surprisingly simple.

A life of fullness emerges when:

✅ You act according to your nature.

✅ You express your true abilities.

✅ You build meaningful relationships.

✅ You participate in a shared purpose.

✅ You contribute toward something larger than yourself. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

Fullness is not chased.

It emerges naturally.

✨ The Highest Expression of Fullness

Perhaps the most beautiful insight in the discourse is Aasaan's description of ultimate fullness.

He describes a state where a person naturally says:

"This is enough." [sentamil3....dpress.com]

Not out of exhaustion.

Not out of resignation.

Not because ambition has died.

But because a genuine sense of completeness has emerged.

The person is not empty.

The person is full.

🔥 Rethinking Tavam (Tapas)

This is one of the most powerful sections of the discourse.

Many people associate spirituality with:

  • Isolation
  • Withdrawal
  • Silence
  • Escaping the world

Aasaan challenges this view. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

The English words penance or austerity capture only a small part of the Tamil concept of Tavam (தவம்) or Tapas.

In this teaching, Tavam is not escaping life.

It is participating in life meaningfully.

Every sincere effort.

Every responsible action.

Every expression of one's abilities.

Every act of growth.

All can become Tavam. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

🌟 Relationship with the Divine

Aasaan reminds us that:

When we use these gifts fully and responsibly, we move closer to their source.

The divine is not encountered only in isolation.

It is encountered through participation.

Through action.

Through growth.

Through contribution.

In this view, meaningful living itself becomes a spiritual path.

🌍 The Larger Truth About Life

Aasaan presents a worldview that feels remarkably simple and profound.

Life is:

  • Continuous activity
  • Continuous growth
  • Continuous participation
  • Continuous relationship

We are not meant to separate ourselves from this flow.

We are meant to participate in it. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

And through that participation, fullness emerges.

💡 Key Insights

🌱 Nirai

  • Has both measurable and experiential dimensions.
  • Refers not merely to completion but to matured fullness. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

⚙️ Seyalpaadu

🤝 Uravaaduthal

🎼 True Compatibility

🎵 Isai

  • Harmony expressed through life.
  • Growth and fullness moving together.(Connected to Aasaan's broader teachings explored in Pannisai.)

🔥 Tavam

🌟 Spiritual Growth

  • Occurs through responsible action and purposeful living.
  • Not necessarily through escape from the world. [sentamil3....dpress.com]

🌸 Conclusion: Nirai, Kalai, and a Life of Fullness

In our earlier exploration of Pannisai, we encountered a powerful idea:

Nirai is matured fullness that continues to participate in growth.

This discourse on Nirai Vaazhkkai shows what that principle looks like in everyday life.

A life of fullness is not:

❌ Endless achievement

❌ Wealth accumulation

❌ Social recognition

❌ Escaping from the world

Instead, it is a life in which:

✅ Your nature finds expression

✅ Your abilities become meaningful action

✅ Your relationships support growth

✅ Your growth supports others

✅ Your life participates in something greater than yourself

When this happens, life begins to feel complete.

Not because everything is finished.

But because everything is aligned.

In the language of Aasaan's teachings:

Nirai (நிறை) is matured fullness.

Kalai (கலை) is fullness turning back toward growth.

Isai (இசை) is the harmony between fullness and growth.

Arul (அருள்) is the universal flow that sustains the entire process.

A Nirai Vaazhkkai is therefore not a life of perfection.

It is a life lived in harmony with one's nature, purpose, relationships, and place within the greater flow of existence.

And perhaps that is the simplest definition of fullness:

To live fully as who we are, while helping life around us grow and flourish. 🌺

Anxiety, The Protector...

🎥 Understanding Anxiety and Depression: A Deeper Perspective on Inner Resistance and Healing

Introduction

Depression and anxiety affect millions of people worldwide, cutting across all age groups—from children to adults. These conditions often limit a person’s ability to live freely, affecting their work, relationships, and overall well-being.

But what if anxiety and depression are not just problems to eliminate?

What if they are signals from within, guiding us toward alignment, simplicity, and truth?

This reflection presents a deeper and more philosophical understanding—seeing these conditions not as enemies, but as protectors and teachers.

📄 Full Transcript (Cleaned & Structured)

🔹 The Growing Reality of Anxiety and Depression

Today, depression and anxiety are widespread.

They can:

  • Limit daily activities
  • Prevent people from working
  • Isolate individuals from family and friends
  • Create dependence on others

More concerning is their impact on children—who are meant to live freely like birds, yet feel restricted and burdened.

Many people begin to feel:

  • Helpless
  • Hopeless
  • That life is not worth living

This leads to an important question:

👉 Why do these struggles exist if we are part of a greater divine existence?

🔹 A Different Perspective: Not Illness, But Resistance

To understand this, consider the example of fever.

When the body develops fever:

  • It is not punishment
  • It is not merely illness

It is resistance.

The body:

  • Detects something harmful
  • Raises temperature
  • Forces rest

Fever is not the problem—it is the body protecting itself.

Similarly:

Anxiety is a form of inner resistance—protecting you from what does not suit you.

🔹 What is Anxiety?

Anxiety arises when:

  • You are forced into unfamiliar situations
  • You face expectations beyond your capacity
  • You engage in something misaligned with your nature

It is not just mental—it is deeply physical:

  • Nervous tension
  • Restlessness
  • Bodily discomfort

Anxiety is not weakness—it is a warning signal.

🔹 Why Anxiety Is Increasing

Modern life amplifies anxiety because:

  • People are driven like a herd
  • Society promotes constant achievement
  • Schools condition individuals toward ambition

We are trained to:

  • Always strive
  • Always compete
  • Always achieve

But:

Anxiety and ambition are closely connected.

If you are constantly anxious to achieve, then anxiety itself becomes inevitable.

🔹 External Pressure vs Inner Clarity

Many decisions today are influenced by:

  • Parents
  • Society
  • Cultural expectations
  • External validation

When your motivation comes only from outside:

You become disconnected from your inner self.

True direction comes from within—not from imposed expectations.

🔹 The Pause: A Necessary Response

When anxiety appears, the response is not to push harder.

Instead:

  • Pause
  • Stop striving
  • Rest deeply

Simple actions:

  • Sit quietly
  • Lie down
  • Close your eyes
  • Allow your mind to settle

You cannot achieve anything meaningful with an anxious mind.

Real achievers are:

  • Calm
  • Clear
  • Steady

🔹 Surrender and Inner Stillness (Vaettal)

A central concept here is “Vaettal” in Tamil tradition.

Vaettal means:

  • Surrendering your ambitions
  • Letting go of emotional pressure
  • Entering a state of inner stillness

In this state:

  • The mind becomes calm
  • Emotions settle
  • Silence emerges

In stillness, the right path reveals itself naturally.

🔹 Practicing Vaettal

When practicing Vaettal:

  • Surrender your goals
  • Release emotional tension
  • Stay quiet and composed

Your mind should rest in complete silence.

From this state:

  • Clarity emerges
  • Decisions become easier
  • Simpler paths become visible

Vaettal does not just help you:

  • Achieve goals

It helps you:

  • Understand life more deeply

🔹 The Role of Simplicity

At the core of this teaching is one powerful idea:

Simplicity

Life becomes difficult when overcomplicated by:

  • Expectations
  • Ambitions
  • Comparisons

But the nature of existence itself is simple.

  • The smallest worm
  • The largest star

Both exist equally within creation.

Greatness lies in simplicity.

So the question becomes:

👉 Why not live simply?

🔹 Anxiety as Protection

Anxiety plays two important roles:

✅ 1. Protection Through Withdrawal

  • It warns you to step away
  • It helps avoid harmful situations

✅ 2. Transformation Through Surrender

  • It pushes you to pause
  • It leads you toward Vaettal
  • It reconnects you with your inner self

In both cases, anxiety protects you—it does not harm you.

🔹 Understanding Depression

Depression can be understood as:

  • Deep emotional exhaustion
  • Disconnection from inner clarity
  • Prolonged misalignment

Rather than seeing it only as suffering:

It can also be a call to return to simplicity and inner balance.

🔑 Key Takeaways

  • ✅ Anxiety is a protective signal, not an enemy
  • ✅ It arises when you are misaligned with your nature
  • ✅ Modern life increases anxiety through pressure and comparison
  • ✅ External validation leads to inner disconnection
  • ✅ Pausing and resting are essential
  • Vaettal (surrender and stillness) brings clarity and calm
  • ✅ Simplicity is the foundation of peace
  • ✅ Anxiety can help you either withdraw or transform
  • ✅ Depression signals the need for realignment

✅ Conclusion

Anxiety and depression are not just conditions to fight—they are experiences to understand.

Instead of resisting them, we can learn from them.

The path becomes clear:

  • Slow down
  • Let go of pressure
  • Turn inward
  • Embrace simplicity
  • Practice Vaettal
  • Trust inner guidance

When understood deeply, anxiety does not break you—it protects, teaches, and transforms you.

Children and Technology: How to Protect Our Little Ones From EMF

Nowadays, babies not long out of the womb can make use of iPhones attached to babies’ bottles, iPads on potties, wireless nappies and change tables. It’s just a whole new level of ridiculousness that’s really not good for anyone.
All these wireless devices expose us to man-made EMF radiation. It’s often called high-frequency or microwave radiation. No previous generation has ever been exposed during childhood and adolescence to this kind of widespread radiation. My nine-year-old son was born around the time the iPad was launched. So, these kids and the following generations have lived their whole lives surrounded and immersed in man-made high-frequency EMFs, at complete odds with the extremely mild EMFs generated by their own bodies.

Why and How is Wireless Technology Affecting Children?

Let’s look at an iPad. They emit short bursts of pulsed microwave radiation even when we are not using them. These bursts typically occur every 4 seconds or up to 900 times every hour. Even when they are not in use they are continually searching for a signal. Smartphones do the same thing.
Hundreds of studies have linked EMF radiation with ill-health effects: headaches, migraines, anxiety, depression, sleep problems, heart problems, infertility, ADHD and autism.
The heart, brain and reproductive organs are most badly affected. It makes sense: we put phones to our ears/brains, iPads close to our face and tablets/laptops on our laps. These organs also contain the highest density of ‘Voltage-Gated Calcium Channels’. When we are exposed to man-made EMFs these gates open, allowing millions of calcium ions into each and every cell, wreaking havoc. A massive inflammatory cascade ensues: inflammation equals disease.
Of course, our hearts and brains run on electricity too (that’s what ECGs and EEGs measure). So, any unnatural form of EMF is bound to affect our own natural electrical systems.

Why are children more at risk than adults?

Children are not little adults. They are impacted way more than we are because their heads are smaller, their skulls much thinner and right up until about 20 years of age their brains are still developing. Their brain tissue contains more fluid and so is more conductive than ours. The bone marrow and eyes absorb way more radiation than the rest of their body. Stem cells are also much more numerous and active in growing bodies and have been shown to be affected by high-frequency radiation. That’s why when it comes to children and technology, we simply have to be vigilant.

Cancer Risk

As far back as 2011 high-frequency EMF (this includes WiFi radiation) has been on the World Health Organisation’s Class 2B List of Possible Human Carcinogens. This is based on research showing increased brain cancer in heavy users of mobile phones (that is, 30 minutes per day) with over 10 years of use. Note that was 30 minutes a day – how often do you or children talk for that length of time or longer?
Brain cancer rates are increasing significantly and the longer we spend on the phone and the closer we hold it to our body the higher the risk. There is lots of research screaming at us to take note.
Some really significant studies have been undertaken in recent years that shows that the earlier a child (under twenty years of age) starts using a mobile (or cordless) phone, the higher the risk of developing a malignant brain tumour (glioma) or an acoustic neuroma. The latter is a rare, slowly growing benign tumour found between the ear and the brain. The study showed that children who started using a mobile phone as teenagers go on to develop 4 to 8 times more brain cancers than those who began using phones later in life. The younger the child, the greater the risk. These findings have been corroborated by other major studies such as the Interphone study and the CERENAT study.
Modelling shows that children’s heads absorb more than twice the amount of radiation from a smartphone than an adult. Their bone marrow ten times as much. This increased risk doesn’t just apply to phones but iPads too, as these are often used close to the head. Every single manufacturer of phones and tablets worldwide issues a safety warning in the fine print instructing you not to hold wireless devices close to your body.
Mums aren’t off the hook either. There are many studies that find mobile phone use by mums during pregnancy may be associated with an increased risk for behavioural problems, particularly hyperactivity/inattention problems and also autism.
The American Academy of Paediatrics had this to say about smartphones:
“They’re not toys. They have radiation that is emitted from them and the more we can keep it off the body and use (the phone) in other ways, it will be safer”.

Safety Standards

In 2012, the American Academy of Paediatrics wrote a letter to the Federal Communications Commission in the USA asking them to review the existing outdated and inappropriate standards for high-frequency radiation. It’s a story for another day, but in short, our regulatory standards do not protect us and Australia is no different. They are not only outdated but they also don’t take into consideration that our cells are adversely affected by this type of radiation (only that it can heat our tissues).

Steps to Reduce Your Child’s EMF Exposure from Technology

Listed below are many steps you can take that will make a significant difference to your child’s health and wellbeing. Most of these recommendations are similar to those given by the American Academy of Paediatrics.
  • The best way to reduce EMF in the home is to replace your wireless router/modem with a non-wireless router and install ethernet connection points.
  • Use corded plug-in (not wireless) connections for your gaming device, printer, mouse, speakers, tablets, keyboards and headphones.
  • All gaming devices (PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch) emit radiation so time spent on them should be limited and controllers should be wired.
  • To play an app or watch a movie on your device, download it first, then switch to airplane mode while you watch in order to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure.
  • Disable the WiFi and Bluetooth functions on all your laptops, computers and tablets.
  • Smartphones and tablets can also be connected to ethernet using adaptors.
  • Apple TV, Smart TVs, Google Chrome Cast and similar emit EMF and need to be completely unplugged when not in use.
  • At a minimum, turn off your wireless router at night and only turn on during the day when needed.
  • Do not install a router in your bedroom or living area where the family spends a lot of time.
  • At bedtime turn off all mobile phones or put them in airplane mode. Sleep mode will not suffice.
  • Never allow a child to put a phone to their head or keep it in their pocket; older children can use speakerphone or air tubes (a special type of EMF-limiting earphones).
  • Text or email instead of making mobile phone calls or use speakerphone.
  • Never make phone calls in cars, trains or buses. The phone works much harder to get a signal through metal.
  • Never charge a phone or tablet beside your bed, even in airplane mode or when turned off.
  • Pregnant women should keep all wireless devices (mobile phones, tablets, laptops) away from their abdomen.
  • Replace DECT cordless phones with corded phones.
  • Set some ground rules to keep the usage of devices down.
  • Work and play outside even if using devices. Nature (grounding and the sun) is your greatest asset when it comes to offsetting the negative effects of man-made EMF.

How To Detox and Cleanse Your Body Naturally?

Cleansing the body periodically is an essential part of making it available for greater possibilities. It’s always best to detox your body naturally, and this can start right at home. Yogi and mystic, Sadhguru, gives us simple methods to cleanse the five elements of the system and looks at how to detox and cleanse your body naturally.
Sadhguru: Essentially, the body is a play of the five elements – water, earth, air, fire and space. It is very common in India to refer to the body as a puppet made of five elements. By composition, the body is seventy-two percent water, twelve percent earth, six percent air, four percent fire, and the remaining six percent space or akash. Bhuta shuddhi is a basic sadhana in yoga to transcend the limitations of the physical and to become available to a dimension beyond the physical.
How these five elements behave within you will determine just about everything. “Bhuta” means elements; “bhuta shuddhi” means to become free from the taint of the elements. It means to become free from the physical. Bhuta shuddhi is a basic sadhana in yoga to transcend the limitations of the physical and to become available to a dimension beyond the physical.
There are some simple things you can do to do bhuta shuddhi in a very natural way. It is not the ultimate type of bhuta shuddhi, but you can do some cleansing of the five elements.
Water - Among the five elements, our biggest concern is water. You must take enormous care about water because it is seventy-two percent and it has tremendous memory. One thing you can do is just put some neem or tulsi leaves in it. These will not remove chemical impurities but they will make the water very vibrant and energetic. Another thing is to store water in a copper vessel so that the water acquires a quality from the copper which is beneficial.
Earth - Earth is twelve percent. How food goes into you, from whose hands it comes to you, how you eat it, how you approach it, all these things are important. Above all, the food you eat is life. Other forms are giving up their life to sustain us. If we can eat with enormous gratitude for all the living things which give up their life to sustain our lives, food will behave in a very different way within you.
Air - Air is six percent. In that, only one percent or less is your breath. The rest is happening in so many other ways. It is not just the air that you breathe that affects you, it is the way you keep the air within you. You must take care of that one percent too but if you are living in a city it may not be in your hands what kind of air you breathe. So go for a walk in the park or along the lake.
Especially if you have children, it is important that you take them out at least once a month – not to the cinema or somewhere like that because the limited air in that hall gets affected just by the sounds, intentions, and emotions that are happening on the screen and reflecting in people’s minds. Instead of taking them to the cinema, take them to the river, teach them how to swim or climb a mountain. You needn’t go all the way to the Himalayas. Even a small hill is a mountain for a child. Even a rock will do. Go climb and sit on one of them. Children will enjoy it immensely and will become fit. You will become fit, your body and mind will function differently, and above all you are in touch with the Creator’s creation which is the most important thing.
Fire - You can also take care of what kind of fire burns within you. Get some sun on your body every day because sunlight is still pure. Fortunately, nobody can contaminate it. And what kind of fire burns within you – is it the fire of greed, fire of hatred, fire of anger, fire of love or fire of compassion. If you take care of that, you needn’t worry about your physical and mental wellbeing. It gets taken care of.
Akash - Akash is an intermediary situation between that which is creation and that which is the source of creation. If we keep the other four elements well, akash will take care of itself. If you know how to get the cooperation of akash into your life, this will be a blessed life.

What is Pranayama?

Tasmin sati svasaprasvasayor-gativicchedah pranayamah - “Regulation of breath or the control of Prana is the stoppage of inhalation and exhalation, which follows after securing that steadiness of posture or seat.” This is the definition of Pranayama in the Yoga-sutras of Patanjali.
‘Svasa’ means inspiratory breath. ‘Prasvasa’ means expiratory breath. You can take up the practice of Pranayama after you have gained steadiness in your Asana (seat). If you can sit for 3 hour in one Asana, continuously at one stretch, you have gained mastery over the Asana. If you are able to sit from half to one hour even, you can take up the practice of Pranayama. You can hardly make any spiritual progress without the practice of Pranayama.
Prana is Vyashti, when the individual is concerned. The sum total of the cosmic energy or cosmic Prana is Hiranyagarbha who is known as the floating ‘Golden-Egg’. Hiranyagarbha is Samashti Prana. One match stick is Vyashti (single). The whole match box is Samashti. A single mango-tree is Vyashti. The whole mango grove is Samashti. The energy in the body is Prana. By controlling the motion of the lungs or respiratory organs, we can control the Prana that is vibrating inside. By control of Prana, the mind can be easily controlled, because the mind is fastened to the Prana, like the bird to the string. Just as the bird that is tied to a post by a string, after flying here and there, finds its resting place in the post, so also this mind-bird after running hither and thither, in various sensual objects, finds its resting place during deep sleep in the Prana.
Pranayama (According to the Gita)
Apane juhvati pranam pranepanam tathapare; Pranapanagatee ruddhva pranayamaparayanah (Gita, Ch. IV-29.). Others offer Prana (outgoing breath) in Apana (incoming breath) and Apana in Prana, restraining the passage of Prana and Apana, absorbed in Pranayama.
Pranayama is a precious Yajna (sacrifice). Some practise the kind of Pranayama called Puraka (filling in). Some practise the kind of Pranayama called Rechaka (emptying). Some are engaged in the practice of Pranayama called Kumbhaka, by impeding the outward passage of air, through the nostrils and the mouth, and by impeding the inward passage of the air, in the opposite direction.
Pranayama (According To Sri Sankaracharya)
“Pranayama is the control of all life-forces by realising naught but Brahman in all things as the mind, etc. “The negation of the Universe is the outgoing breath. The thought: ‘I am Brahman’ itself is called the incoming breath. The permanence of that thought thereafter is the restrained breath. This is the Pranayama of the wise, while the pressing of the nose is only for the unknowing.” (Aparokshanubhuti, 118-120).

Raja Yoga - A Royal Path...

Yoga and Concentration
Raja Yoga
  • Raja means royal or kingly. Raja yoga meditation is generally based on directing one’s life force to bring the mind and emotions so into balance that the attention may be easily focused on the object of meditation, or the Lord directly.
  • Generally, life force is directed to move up and down the spine until it is balanced and the mind and emotions are serenely content. Then awareness is generally directed to move forward into a point in the center of the lower forehead.
  • This meditation point, which is about half an inch above where the eyebrows meet, is called ajna, or the third eye. When the energy is balanced throughout the brain and body and easily moving forward in the area of the third eye, your mind becomes very calm.
  • While your mind is not passive, it is free of meaningless thoughts, worries, and the bric-a-brac of the subconscious mind. This state usually gives you a very pleasant sense of well being and your mind seems filled with a velvety darkness.
Raja Yoga Meditation
  • As your consciousness continues to move in your third eye, pastel colors begin to appear in your forehead. Sumptuous, glorious pinks, yellows, whites, blues, indigos, greens, and purples take their turn or play in combination in your forehead.
  • Then, you may think you are seeing fireflies, lightning, or moonlight as your life force becomes more concentrated and more actively prepares you to behold higher consciousness. This process is readying you to experience your true nature as pure consciousness, pure spirit, pure awareness.
  • And then the light in your forehead blazes brighter than the sun! But, you find it is soothing to look into the awesome light, soothing to behold it. This is the brilliance of your inner light, your essence, revealing itself to you.
  • Raja yoga, particularly, requires a teacher because it is easy to strain yourself, and it’s also easy to delude yourself into high level hallucinations rather than actual experiences of your higher consciousness.
  • However, the genuine raja yogi lives in bliss, with his, or her, will surrendered to God. A raja yogi realizes the profound truth of the Biblical passage: If therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be filled with light.

Why to Meditate Daily?

Meditation
1. Your life becomes significantly clearer and calmer
The hustle and bustle of everyday life is choking our minds of the peace we deserve! Our technology advancements shouldn’t suffocate our minds, it should allow us to achieve more peace. Meditation helps put those events in perspective for our daily tasks.
2. Your blood pressure is lowered
Science has proven it, meditation lowers the blood pressure, which in return is related to your stress levels and stress management. Much better than taking pills to lower your blood pressure!
3. People around you enjoy your company
Regular meditation leads to higher/positive energy that you are consistently tapping into. This effectively makes you very pleasant to be around, and people like that! People naturally gravitate to the people who make them feel good.
4. Your connection with God is strengthened
Spiritual awareness is strengthened with a daily meditation practice. You naturally become more aware of your surroundings, and higher awareness always leads to a deeper connection with God. The trees begin showing personalities, and the landscape takes on different meanings all through a deeper awareness.
5. You achieve several hours of sleep in one 20 minute meditation session
Another scientific fact is that meditation is known to put you into a deeper state of rest than deep sleep. Deep sleep is associated with a delta brainwaves. Deep meditation can drop you into that delta brainwaves rapidly, achieving the effects in a shorter amount of time.
6. Problems that seemed very difficult suddenly have clear solutions
For every problem a solution exists. When your mind is clear and you're in a state of peace, solutions appear. Being in a state of peace just naturally attracts solutions and pathways into your field of view.
7. Your productivity sky rockets because of your ability to have clear focus
If solutions to problems appear more frequently when meditating daily, then imagine what happens to your everyday tasks. Solutions to everyday life become more and more obvious. And you begin to take note of these subtle changes as your spiritual vision grows clearer and wider.
8. Your life expectancy increases
Science has shown that regular meditation will increase your life expectancy. It’s pretty obvious to see less stress and more peace promotes healthy cells and healthy cells regenerate healthier cells. And likewise, stressed cells regenerate more stressed cells. So live longer by choosing more peace in your life.
9. You effectively reduce stress in your life
Speaking of stress, meditation has a profound effect on reducing stress in your body. Because meditation promotes peace and inner calm, stress dissolves dramatically from this meditative process. Again, science has proven it.
10. You can visualize powerfully when combined with positive affirmations and meditation
Meditation is powerful at clearing the mind and focusing on simple things like breathing or a flower. But, it can be used for so much more! To powerfully manifest your desires, you must get into a clear connection with the source of manifesting (God(YAHWEH)/Universe/Absolute Space). If your spirits are on high while you visualize then the communication channel for manifesting positive events in your life is strengthened.
While meditating I like to repeat affirmations, otherwise known as mantras, to help focus my energy into the positive. These statements can be as simple as “love” or “I am love, I am joy, I am peace”.
11. You feel fantastic throughout your day!
And finally, when you meditate on a regular basis, you just feel fantastic. Plain and simple. You feel good.
