Self-knowledge is a simply a matter of understanding yourself and knowing what makes you tick. Each of us is a unique individual and not one of us is perfect because we are human beings. The perfect human being is yet to be born.
"The Self unfolds Itself, by Itself, for its Self" - Bhagavad Geetha
We are all actually the embodied soul (Self or Higher Self or Inner Self) represented as shown above. But we often refer our self with our lower self (Mind /Ego). When we try to know our Inner Self (Soul) by our self (Mind) and finally become one with the Universal Soul, that is known as self-knowledge or self-realization or Moksha or Nirvana or Samadhi or Infinite state or GOD or Pure Consciousness or Infinite Consciousness or Ultimate Reality.
All the great and wise persons, Siddhars, Rishis, Sages, Yogis are all the seeker of the Absolute Truth or Knower of their Self only. Some of the well-known persons are Buddha, Mahavira, Maha Avataar Baba, Jesus, 18 Siddhars and there are many number of persons throughout India, China and rest of the world. All these persons are known as Spiritual persons.
Spirituality is nothing but knowing their own higher Self. All the Religions in the world are formed by the followers of this great person with the great notion to take it to common man in simple ways. Since concept of Infinite Consciousness can be only felt and cannot be explained exactly, many stories/poems/scripts are formed in understandable forms along with the ways to achieve it for common man. Science tries to understand this process by reasoning it and try to replicate the same. Mathematics, Architecture, Music, Dance, Arts are a few to name. All inventions in this world by human are just the application of the same.
All the above are just my humble thoughts in the course of learning from different sources and self-analysis. Appreciate your thoughts and feedback to know our Self better! :)
